Everything you ever wanted to know about Global Warming

Page history last edited by Alyssa Ruesch 15 years, 4 months ago

I watched a very interesting movie about global warming and as the title says, it shows a very inconvenient truth. Al Gore, one of the outsiders to the US presidential election,  made this movie to present different issues about global warming and pollution. It is not really a movie but more a documentary, showing him during a presentation show about the environment. In few words, he tries to demonstrate that human destroys the planet for many decades and it starts to become almost unavoidable that the planet losses resources for ever.

The environment is not a political question, it is a human one. Everybody is concerned. Of course, politicians can help to figure out  solutions to fight against global warming, pollution, endangered species and so on. But the point is that the fact is here. If we don't do something and act quickly, our planet and its resources are going to die in few decades. I think that democrats or republicans, socialists or communists, must agree that we have to act now to save the planet because our future is at stake.

That is why I would like to say thank you to Albert Gore, for his tenacity and his wish to make this movie without any political issue.

At the beginning I was a kind of disappointed by the movie. It shows and demonstrates all issues, diagrams, evidences that the planet becomes warmer and it causes ecologic catastrophs, but nothing about the solutions. In my opinion when you present so much problems, the loop is not done if you don’t present solutions or propose some to solve these problems.

People need concrete advices and action otherwise the message doesn’t make any sense.  The goal of this movie is to alert the world. Good, but why didn’t he use the impact of this movie to be more proactive, saying “ok, here are the problems but I already have solutions, easy to remember and painless in the everyday life.

Even if some ideas of solutions are cited at the end during the generic, is not enough relevant. He proposes people to go check a website with all solutions to fight against pollution, which, to my mind, is not really effective because people has to make the effort to go online.

But maybe presenting all solutions to fight against global warming means a whole a part movie.

By the way, if you are interested to know more about these solutions, just go check our other articles about that here.

However, I admire his bravery and the time he spend on this fight which is honorable.

I haven't seen this documentary but after reading your article I want to see it. Maybe he didn't give a lot of solutions because he only wanted to catch our attention and say "Hey there is a big problem." I think that sometimes people know that there is a problem but they need something else to remind it. I liked Melanie's opinion toward the documentary: It's strong.

I haven't seen this movie either, but I'm curious about it. I know that Al Gore received an Academy Award for this film, and he also received a Nobel Peace Prize for raising awareness about the global warming crisis. Your review will help me watch the documentary with a critical eye!
